A life on the North Coast.
Kendrick Petty spent much of his life by the sea in the small town of Elk in Northern California. He drew inspiration form the movement of the ocean and the clouds and his cherished adventures to the Sierra Nevada mountains and beyond. His works spanned four decades and became an annual respite from his professional life as an inn keeper. His artistic retreats corresponded with the annual fast of Ramadan. He fasted, he rested and he spent his time creating one work that would represent the year.
